”When your image improves, your performance improves” - Zig Ziglar
Yesterday Casey and I processed 71 head of steers and heifers. These are some calves that we have been receiving for the last few days. The processing went perfect. These calves have been worked with everyday since they have arrived at our place. They had already been through the processing facilities (for practice), so it was a breeze. Believe it or not they like it. The calves just walk into the “Bud Box”, right into the chute, receive their vaccinations, walk right out and into their pen to eat. They’ve been here a few days and I can tell they already feel at home. That’s what I love about this “job”…it doesn’t feel like a “job”. I get to have “fun” all day long!
My new computer should be here today, so hopefully I can get some cattle pictures posted by the end of the week.
Have a great day!

”Always give without remembering and always receive without forgetting” - Brian Tracy
Computer Crash! Yes…my computer crashed a few days ago, so I am borrowing Casey’s. I should have a new one up and running Wednesday or Thursday. Please continue to check for new posts, but I won’t be able to post any pictures for a few more days.
Today we revaccinated some steers. Tomorrow we should be able to get a load of steers sorted up. I will get them posted at the end of the week.

“Life is what you make it.”
No one is responsible for your happiness, sadness or success. No one but you. Yes, you!
The day you take complete responsibility for yourself and your choices is the day you start a journey toward grand personal fulfillment.
You’re the only one that lives your life. Believe it or not, you do have the power to succeed at anythng you choose. The strength to fulfill your dreams is within you, at this very moment. Accepting responsibility without excuses, frees your power to achieve.
You can do it. So, do it today!

SMILE
Author Unknown
A Smile costs nothing, but gives much.
It enriches those who receive, without making poorer those who give.
It takes but a moment, but the memory of it sometimes lasts forever. None is so rich or mighty that he can get along without it,
and none is so poor, but that he can be made rich by it.
A Smile creates happiness in the home, fosters good will in business,
and is the countersign of friendship.
It brings rest to the weary, cheer to the discouraged, sunshine to the sad,
and it is nature’s best antidote for trouble.
Yet it cannot be bought, begged, borrowed, or stolen,
for it is something that is of no value to anyone, until it is given away.
Some people are too tired to give you a smile;
Give them one of yours, as none needs a smile so much as he who has no more to give.

“Everyone wants to be appreciated, so if you appreciate someone, don’t keep it a secret.” - Mary Kay Ash
The weather was wonderful yesterday afternoon while I took the cattle on a walk.
Everyday I try to do something just a little different with our cattle. If I take them on the same route to the same place everyday they tend to get bored and lose their excitement. When we do the same things everyday in the same way it get’s to be boring for us too, but if we change it around just a little bit it makes life so much more interesting and fun.
We practiced going in and out of the pens with my jacket hanging on the gate!

This way the cattle learn that it’s okay to walk by something that is out of the ordinary. We never know when we might be in a situation where there isn’t anything we can do about a certain distraction while we are having to move cattle. If we practice these things, then when the time comes that we actually have to do whatever it is…it’s a breeze!!
The best part of all of this is that the cattle love to do these things. When I see them put their tails in the air and buck around playing with each other I know they are feeling happy.

“If you do what you’ve always done, you’ll get what you’ve always gotten.” - Anthony Robbins
It was so pretty early this morning. The light fog and the sun shinning made it just perfect for taking a few pictures.
I came in this afternoon to do a few things in the office, but I am headed back out to enjoy this wonderful weather. The cattle and I are going for a walk this afternoon. They’re going to love it!!

These are a few of the calves that we received Tuesday night.

“Continuous effort - not strength or intelligence - is the key to unlocking our potential.” - Sir Winston Churchill
It was a beautiful day today!
Everyday cattle need water, feed and exercise. Most people make sure that their cattle eat and drink, but what about exercise? We need exercise everyday, so why wouldn’t our cattle? Today was a perfect day just for that. Some days we make excuses…it’s too cold, it’s too hot, it’s too windy, it’s too muddy, or I just don’t feel like it. Well, I’m not making any excuses any more, because I have found out how important it is for cattle to get proper exercise. They love it and it makes them feel good. They want to eat more, too. It does great things for them just like it does for us. When you see them kickin’, buckin’ and runnin’ around having fun, it’s truly a great feeling!

“Never giving up and pushing forward will unlock all the potential we are capable of.” - Christy Borgeld
It was a great weekend!
Yesterday we processed 100 head of steers. Joel and Casey were here and they pitched in and helped us. Joel wasn’t raised around livestock, which is good for us because he doesn’t have any bad habits. He’s a fast learner, but what else would you expect with Casey and me being the teachers??!! Casey decided she needed to take some pictures of Joel so his family would really believe he knows how to work cattle! So here he is…

We still don’t have him convinced that he needs to trade in his cap for a cowboy hat!!
