The House of 1000 Mirrors

Long ago in a small, far away village, there was a place known as the House of 1000 Mirrors. A small, happy little dog learned of this place and decided to visit. When he arrived, he bounced   happily up the stairs to the doorway of the house. He looked through the doorway with his ears lifted high and his tail wagging as fast as it could. To his great surprise, he found himself staring at 1000 other happy little dogs with their tails wagging just as fast as his. He smiled a great smile, and was answered with 1000 great smiles just as warm and friendly. As he left the house, he thought to himself, “This is a wonderful place. I will come back and visit it often.”

In this same village, another little dog, who was not quite as happy as the first one, decided to visit the house. He slowly climbed the stairs and hung his head low as he looked into the door. When he saw the 1000 unfriendly looking dogs staring back at him, he growled at them and was horrified to see 1000 little dogs growling back at him. As he left, he thought to himself, “That is a horrible place, and I will never go back there again.”

All the faces in the world are mirrors. What kind of reflections do you see in the faces of the people you meet?

We are getting a nice little shower this morning!

I had just finished feeding the cattle and moving some of them around when it started to rain.  I guess I timed that just right! 

I have some things to do in the office this morning and then I’ll be back outside working with the calves.  There is rain in the forecast for the rest of today and through Saturday, but the cattle still need some form of exercise.  I’ll just work with them between “down pours”!

We had a nice little shower earlier this morning!  It is such a beautiful day! 

We have been sorting and weighing cattle today.  We have a couple loads sorted up and ready to go.

Start the week right…

Positive spawns positive.  Doing something positive for someone or some situation leads the way for more positive actions.  In this way, positive attracts positive and creates more positive.  The positive that is done, establishes a precedence for continuous and constructive positive action.  When some action is done, that has a positive effect, the positive action is noticed and duplicated.  One of the best vehicles for motivation, is by doing positive daily deeds!

Every day, in every way, there is a real need, to do good deeds!

GLOBAL WARMING CULPRITS! 

Chance and I have been revaccinating cattle today.  Chance brings the cattle into the “Bud Box” at a trot, steps to the side and the cattle head right up the alley to the chute.  By the time our cattle are ready for revaccinating they have been through the facilities several times in a positive manner, so it’s not a big deal…they know what to do and enjoy it!  It really is good for them when done properly.

The gate is on the left of this picture, so you can see the cattle come in from the left, Chance closes the gate, steps over to where you see him, the cattle go to the back of the “box” (the far right), turn around and go right up the alley.  Chance does all of the work from the position you see him in the picture. 

I am completely outside the “Bud Box” while taking this picture.  The cattle knew I was there and came right in anyway, without any hesitation.

A Better Life

     “I want a better life.” That has become the slogan of our society today. Everywhere we look there are a thousand suggestions on how to live a better life. There are pills, exercises, and diet books to help us lose weight so we can live a better life. There are lotions, treatments, and surgeries to help us look better so we can live a better life. There are cell phones, computers, and televisions to keep us connected and entertained so we can live a better life. There are cars, clothes, and fancy homes to keep us feeling wealthy so we can live a better life. There are schools, classes, and colleges to get our kids ready to live an even better life than we do. There are also jobs, cash, and credit cards to keep us spending for all of these things so that we can one day, hopefully, have that better life we dream about.

     I want a better life too, but I don’t think that any of these things will help me to get it. I have tried a lot of them over the years and while they may make you feel better for a moment they don’t bring you the lasting happiness you want. I have found for myself that the only way to have a better life is to live a better life, and only way to give your children a better life is to show them how to live a better life as well.

     How do you live a better life? You start by living more for your soul and less for your wallet. You spend more time hugging and less time buying. You turn off the television and take a walk with your children. You smile more and worry less. You spend more time with your loved ones and less time at the office. You laugh longer and more often. You look in your heart more and in the mirror less. You make your first job spreading joy rather than earning money. You realize just how much God loves you and you spend your days sharing that love with everyone you meet.  And you always remember that your life is a gift from God and how you live it is your gift back.
