“All the problems of the world could be settled easily if men were only willing to think. The trouble is that men very often resort to all sorts of devices in order not to think, because thinking is such hard work.”Thomas J. Watson

Sowing And Reaping

“Good thought and actions can never produce bad results; bad thoughts and actions can never produce good results. This is but saying that nothing can come from corn but corn, nothing from nettles but nettles.” - As A Man Thinketh

Most everyone understands the biblical concept of sowing and reaping because we can grasp the simplicity of the logic. If we were to plant corn in our backyard garden we wouldn’t expect spinach to come up. But even though we can grasp the logic, we don’t always act as if we understand the power of this principle. And we certainly don’t act as if this principle will affect us. An example: For many years my morning ritual began with a thorough reading of the newspaper, most days spending an hour or more before dashing off to the office. I did not know then that our minds are most impressionable immediately upon rising in the morning and just before sleep in the evening. Fresh from the reading (and thoughts) of the day’s murders, indictments, invasions by foreign dictators, and all other manner of “news”, it shouldn’t have come as a surprise to me that my sowing of these thoughts would reap an “attitude”toward the rush hour drivers who were “conspiring” to slowdown my arrival at work. Thus, by the time I did arrive, I had set the tone for my day, and it was not a positive one. I gave up my morning ritual ten years ago and replaced it with a ritual of reading and meditating on some works that will sow “good thoughts” and thus reap “good results.” I wasn’t aware at the time that this was some sound advice offered up by the Apostle Paul, who wrote, “Fix your thoughts on what is true and good and right. Think about things that are pure and lovely, and dwell on the fine, good things in others. Think about all you can praise God for and be glad about.” We always reap what we sow and that is especially true with our thoughts. As Emmet Fox writes, “The secret of life then is to control your mental states, for if you will do this the rest will follow. To accept sickness, trouble, and failure as unavoidable, and perhaps inevitable, is folly, because it is this very acceptance by you that keeps these evils in existence. Man is not limited by his environment. He creates his environments by his beliefs and feelings. To suppose otherwise is like thinking that the tail can wag the dog.”

And that’s worth thinking about. - Vic Johnson

“I expect to pass through this world but once. Any good therefore that I can do, or any kindness that I can show to any fellow creature, let me do it now. Let me not defer or neglect it, for I shall not pass this way again.” - William Penn

We are getting a nice little shower this morning.

This pretty well catches up on what’s been happening around here!  Look’s like it’s going to rain most of the day, but I’ll be sneaking out sometime to work with the cattle, even if it is raining!

I apoligize for not having any posts the last several days! Duh

We have been busy to say the least.

The big event this last weekend was that Chance graduated from Cherryvale High School.  After his graduation we had some friends over for a BBQ.

We have also been shipping and receiving cattle daily.  I am not complaining about this I just wanted everyone to know why I haven’t been at my computer for a few days.

We shipped 2 loads of cattle early this morning and we’ll be shiping another load tomorrow morning.  I am planning on taking some pictures so I should be able to post them tomorrow night.

Please check back for pictures of all of our lastest events!

Have a Grand Week!!! - Lori

 Kindness…

A little kindness, a little thoughtfulness, a little compassion, can really impact the life of another person.  And it takes so little time and involves such a small investment. Yet real joy can be the outcome. Little things do make a big difference.

Today I hope you will have an opportunity to say a word of encouragement, to give an extra big smile, to use a more enthusiastic tone of voice, or anything else that will give just a word of hope. The reality is, we never know but that the other person might be in the depths of despair, and a simple act of kindness could well literally be a lifesaver.

In addition, it involves joy on the part of the gifter. Joy is what you experience when you do something for someone else, someone who cannot reciprocate your kindness. Think about it.

Give it a shot today - and tomorrow, too!

Good Day

Being productive and constructive takes effort, but at the same time makes things go smoother!

A busy person is a happy person. This rings true in all aspects of life because we are putting forth an effort when we are active. When our efforts are directed towards activities that are productive and constructive,  we experience progress and success, as well as the ability to overcome hurdles and unexpected events. Another benefit of an active agenda that is productive, is that our time, efforts, and activities are organized which helps to make things go a lot smoother.

Persistence

Napoleon Hill devoted an entire chapter in Think and Grow Rich to persistence. In that chapter he said, “There may be no heroic connotation to the word persistence, but the character is to the quality of man what carbon is to steel.” Hill also pointed out in another part of the same chapter, that the only thing which separated Thomas Edison or Henry Ford from the rest of the people in the world was persistence. For both of these great men had an image and they would not let anyone or anything dissuade them - they were persistent. One illuminated the world; the other put the world on wheels. Both were, of course, richly rewarded.

Another beautiful day!  The grass is tall and green and the cattle are lovin’ it!  I heard quite a few people talking lately- “When is it ever going to stop raining?”, but look at what it did for us.  Green grass, full ponds and happy cattle.  How much better can it get?!

The cattle that I was going to post “For Sale” have been sold. We receive cattle almost daily, so if there is something you are looking for please contact us so that we can help you find what you need.
