Be happy because there are many things to be happy about. Everyone has something to be happy about. Sometimes it’s easy to be happy and other times it’s a challenge. However, it should always be remembered that in every moment, and in every day, there is something to be happy about. When we look for things to be happy about, we will find them. This doesn’t mean that life will always be easy and carefree, but it does mean that when we look and see, we will know how to be happy.

Be happy today because there are so many things to be happy about, just look for them!

The cattle that we had “For Sale” have been sold!  We will be sorting up another load next week.  Let us know what you are looking for and we’d be glad to help you.  We are having a big get-together Saturday and Chance will be home from Scott City.  Yeah!!

It’s your life, LIVE BIG!!

“Pay attention.  Don’t just stagger through the day.” - Jim Rohn

Last night we went to Joel & Casey’s (Our Son-in-law & Daughter) house for supper.  It was yummy!  Casey fixed us enchiladas and this really good cheesey cheese dip.  Everyone usually comes out to our place when we get together, but Joel & Casey decided to have everyone to their house.  They bought this house a few months ago & have been fixing it up…it’s looking really nice.  We all had a great time & it was nice for a change!

Father's Day 5

It has been quite humid around here lately due to all of the moisture that we have been getting.  I feel like I have been sweating 24/7!!  I can’t believe that some people actually pay money to go to the gym so they can sweat.

We have a load of real nice steers that are “For Sale”.  They are weighing 520# and are 95% black.  I should have some pictures of them posted tomorrow.

Happy Monday….Make This A GREAT Week!!!

“The secret of happiness is not in doing what one likes, but in liking what one does.” - James M. Barrie

Blonde Car Accident!

One day, while a blonde was out driving her car, she ran into a truck.  The truck driver made her pull over into a parking lot and get out of the car.  He took a piece of chalk and drew a circle on the pavement and told her to stand in the middle and not leave the circle.  Furious, he went over to her car and slashed the tires.  The blonde started laughing.  This made the man angrier so he smashed her windshield.  This time the blonde laughed even harder.  Livid, the man broke all her windows and keyed her car.  The blonde is now laughing hysterically, so the truck driver asks her what’s so funny.  The blonde giggles and replies, “When you weren’t looking, I stepped out of the circle three times!”

“Great dancers are not great because of their technique- they are great because of their passion.” - Martha Graham

It’s another Great Day!

We have been getting rain everyday for about 3 days.  Some places right around us received 9 inches over the night!  It is really wet in several places, but I think we are going to appreciate it when July and August roll around.

Our son, Chance had a job opportunity in Scott City, Kansas.  He left Monday to go work at a 60,000 head feedyard.  He has wanted to do this since he was a young boy.  Our starter yard capacity is around 1500 head so this is quite a change for him.  More than anything I think it’s the curiousity of working with such a large amount of cattle in one place.  Even though he is greatly missed here, I feel that this is a wonderful opportunity for him.  Jack & I haven’t been out there, but are planning to visit him in a few weeks.  I can hardly wait ’cause I sure do miss that kid!!

We will have some more cattle sorted up “For Sale” in the next few days.  I will be posting pictures & weighs soon.

Have a GREAT WEEK!!!

“Some people are always grumbling because the roses have thorns. I am thankful that thorns have roses.” - Alphonse Karr

I have to post this essay that Ann Barnhardt had on her website the other day!  Enjoy your Day. - Lori

Here is a great essay attributed to Jay Leno, but that might be merely urban legend. Whoever wrote it, it is outstanding:

“The other day I was reading Newsweek magazine and came across some poll data I found rather hard to believe. It must be true given the source, right? The Newsweek poll alleges that 67 percent of Americans are unhappy with the direction the country is headed and 69 percent of the country is unhappy with the performance of the president. In essence 2/3s of the citizenry just ain’t happy and want a change. So being the knuckle dragger I am, I started thinking, ”What we are so unhappy about?”

Is it that we have electricity and running water 24 hours a day, 7 days a week? Is our unhappiness the result of having air conditioning in the summer and heating in the winter? Could it be that 95.4 percent of these unhappy folks have a job? Maybe it is the ability to walk into a grocery store at any time and see more food in moments than Darfur has seen in the last year?

Maybe it is the ability to drive from the Pacific Ocean to the Atlantic Ocean without having to present identification papers as we move through each state? Or possibly the hundreds of clean and safe motels we would find along the way that can provide temporary shelter? I guess having thousands of restaurants with varying cuisine from around the world is just not good enough. Or could it be that when we wreck our car, emergency workers show up and provide services to help and even send a helicopter to take you to the hospital.

Perhaps you are one of the 70 percent of Americans who own a home. You may be upset with knowing that in the unfortunate case of a fire, a group of trained firefighters will appear in moments and use top-notch equipment to extinguish the flames thus saving you, your family and your belongings. Or if, while at home watching one of your many flat screen TVs, a burglar or prowler intrudes , an officer equipped with a gun and a bullet-proof vest will come to defend you and your family against attack or loss. This all in the backdrop of a neighborhood free of bombs or militias raping and pillaging the residents.

How about the complete religious, social and political freedoms we enjoy that are the envy of everyone in the world? Maybe that is what has 67 percent of you folks unhappy. Fact is, we are the largest group of ungrateful, spoiled brats the world has ever seen. No wonder the world loves the U.S. , yet has a great disdain for its citizens. They see us for what we are. The most blessed people in the world who do nothing but complain about what we don’t have, and what we hate about the country instead of thanking the good Lord we live here.

I know, I know. What about the president who took us into war and has no plan to get us out? The president who has a measly 31 percent approval rating? Is this the same president who guided the nation in the dark days after 9/11? The president that cut taxes to bring an economy out of recession? Could this be the same guy who has been called every name in the book for succeeding in keeping all the spoiled ungrateful brats safe from terrorist attacks? The commander in chief of an all-volunteer army that is out there defending you and me? Did you hear how bad the President is on the news or talk show? Did this news affect you so much, make you so unhappy you couldn’t take a look around for yourself and see all the good things and be glad? Think about it……are you upset at the President because he actually caused you personal pain OR is it because the “Media” told you he was failing to kiss your sorry ungrateful behind every day. Make no mistake about it. The troops in Iraq and Afghanistan have volunteered to serve, and in many cases may have died for your freedom. There is currently no draft in this country. They didn’t have to go. They are able to refuse to go and end up with either a ‘general’ discharge, an ‘other than honorable’ discharge or, worst case scenario, a ‘dishonorable’ discharge after a few days in the brig.

So why then the flat-out discontentment in the minds of 69 percent of Americans? Say what you want but I blame it on the media. “If it bleeds it leads” and they specialize in bad news. Everybody will watch a car crash with blood and guts. How many will watch kids selling lemonade at the corner? The media knows this and media outlets are for-profit corporations. They offer what sells, and when criticized, try to defend their actions by “justifying” them in one way or another. Stop buying the negativism you are fed everyday by the media. Shut off the TV, burn Newsweek, and use the New York Times for the bottom of your bird cage. Then start being grateful for all we have as a country. There is exponentially more good than bad. We are among the most blessed people on Earth and should thank God several times a day, or at least be thankful and appreciative.”

Be Thankful

Thought For The Day!

The Golden Rule-

The golden rule keeps us on course.  By practicing the golden rule, on a daily basis, we establish and maintain a spirit of unity and harmony among family members, fellow co-workers, and community neighbors.  Peace of mind and clear direction are just some of the benefits of practicing the golden rule, which states, “Do unto others, as you would have them do unto you.”  The sun shines brighter and life is more rewarding, when we make it a rule to live *The Golden Rule*!!!

When the rule is golden, our lives are emboldened!

We have had a few busy weeks around here lately, receiving cattle and shipping cattle.  It’s been great.  A few days ago we got some more rain, so the grass is looking really nice.  The pond are full and the cattle are really enjoying the time that they spent out grazing during the day.  Tomorrow morning we have a load of steers that we will revaccinate before I turn them out & after that we’ll be processing some new calves that we received a few days ago.  We haven’t had time to process them yet, but that doesn’t matter because I have been working with them daily and they are doing just fine.

Wishing everyone a great week! - Lori Flower
