“Work can be as fun as play. Imagine for a moment how much more effective you could be, in whatever you choose to do, if you truly enjoy it.” - UKNOWN

Cattle For Sale
I should have some pictures posted tomorrow of the cattle that we have “FOR SALE”!
I know I haven’t been doing all that well with my picture taking lately. Oh Well! What more can I say?!
Anyway, we have a nice load of black heifers & a load of steers. I will post pictures, weights and more info tomorrow.

In everyone’s life, at some time, our inner fire goes out. It is then burst into flame by an encounter with another human being. We should all be thankful for those people who rekindle the inner spirit. — Albert Schweitzer
We don’t often think about the effect that our words have upon others. Our words do have power and everything that we say has a positive or negative impact on the people around us.
There is an old story that is told about an army of frogs that went hopping through the forest one day when two of the frogs suddenly fell into a deep pit. All of the other frogs gathered around the hole to look down on their two fallen comrades. They all began to sadly shake their heads and to croak out dismal warnings. “It’s too deep!” croaked one frog. Another frog croaked that there was no way that they would ever be able to get out of that pit alive.
The two fallen frogs began to continuously jump as they tried to get out of the pit, but the frogs that were watching kept croaking louder at them that they might as well stop because they were as good as dead and just wasting their time. One of the two frogs finally gave up and heeded the pessimistic advice of the frogs at the top. He quit leaping and literally “croaked” and died.
The other frog just kept right on jumping and leaping harder than ever in spite of all the loud croaks of disapproval from the frogs around the top of the hole. They kept croaking shouts at him to quit jumping and save himself from all the pain and suffering he was incurring as he leaped and fell back down to the bottom of the pit over and over again.
Finally, he jumped even harder than ever and to the surprise of all the other frogs he leaped right out of the deep pit. The other frogs asked him, “Why did you keep leaping even though we croaked and yelled at you to stop?” It was then that the frog explained to them that he was deaf and he had thought they were cheering for him and shouting words of encouragement to him the entire time!
A little encouragement can go a long way and as Babe Ruth once said, “It’s hard to beat a person who never gives up.”
Our words do have the power to hurt or to heal. What kind of frog are you? Are you a croaker or a leaper?

“Early to bed and early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy, and wise.” -Benjamin Franklin
If most Americans can recite this quote, why are only a fraction of us following its message? As a whole in our country, our bedtimes are getting later and later, and as a result, we wake up later and scramble all morning until we get to work. Then we scramble some more, which affects our career, our attitude, and our health. OR you could take Ben Franklin’s advice and give your body, your mind, and your soul the proven advantage of an early bedtime and an early start on the day. Only then will you realize that this quote isn’t simply memorable – it’s sound advice for living your best, healthiest life.
It has been such a pretty day!
Yesterday Casey & I sorted up a load of real nice heifers & half a load of steers. I still can’t believe how easy sortin’ can be now that we work with the cattle. It makes all the difference. First, we sorted the steers from the heifers. There wasn’t any slammin’ gates in their faces, no hollerin’ (at the cattle OR at each other), no sortin’ sticks, no runnin’ by us…they just walked by me & Casey just moved one way or the other & they were sorted & there they stood!!! It was kinda like…OK, so what do you want us to do now? It was FUN! It’s hard for some people to understand that it could be that easy (& fun), but all it takes is workin’ with the cattle in a positive way & enjoying what you’re doing & why wouldn’t you get Positive Results?!
Casey is our youngest daughter. Casey and her husband, Joel, live in Independence and they are expecting their first baby (our first grandbaby!!) December 15. I am soooo excited! Yesterday I finally talked Casey in to posing for me before we got started sorting cattle. This is for some of my friends & family that don’t live around here that are asking me if her stomach is getting big yet!
See for yourself–

Have a great day!!
